In the south east point of Algarve, you will find the little village of São Bartolomeu, between the salt marshes and the mouth of the Guadiana river, close to the white sandy beaches of Monte Gordo Bay which shares the Atlantic and Mediterranean waters, the warmest in Portugal. A forty acre property of wild pines, olive, cork, oak, fig, apricot and orange trees and ecologic horticulture.
The house was recoverded by arquitect Pedro Ressano Garcia and adapted to receive visitors in a simultaneously sophisticated and rural ambience. In keeping with the environment, solar energy is used as well as residual waters and although there is no television nor music, the house does provide an Internet Wireless Sistem. Breakfast is served throughout the morning, made exclusively with organic products grown on the property.
Located a 1.5 km from the Bay beaches, you will find a market, supermarket, tellers, pharmacy, restaurants and banks. The Castro Marim train station is only 300 meters away and the highway that will take you to Faro is 1 km away. The closest airport is a 30 minutes drive and cities like Seville, Cordoba and Cadiz are only two hours and a half away.
The Companhia das Culturas responds to a concept that was entrusted to anthropologist Eglantina Monteiro. Its space evoques that of an artist’s residence, a place for seminars, workshops, mozarabic gastronomy and breathtking nature. |
